Weighing In ...
Why we are pro Probst

A lot of WEA members are visiting Olympia this month to talk with legislators about issues that impact students and those of us who work in public schools. Some legislators would never get away with the way they treat one another in our classrooms. But Rep. Tim Probst treats people with dignity and respect.

Thanks to the "Max"

Three cheers go to Rep. Marcie Maxwell for both her understanding of why voters have resoundly said no to charter schools three times and for her efforts to make more people aware of the innovative schools in our state which already exist. Maxwell supports creativity and dedication of WEA members who educate students in public schools across our state and is working hard to make sure our schools are adequately funded.

Washington Achievement Awards

Some 275 schools received Washington Achievement Awards this year – a nearly 50 percent increase from the year before. Recognition awards are based on overall excellence, language arts, math, science, closing the achievement gap and other categories.
