2021-22 WEA Elections
2022 Elections update
Nominations have closed for NEA State Delegate and UniServ Council Director to the WEA Board. If you'd still like to run for an NEA State Director position, please click here for more information about this position. If you'd like to submit your nomination form click here. Nominations for NEA State Director close on March 31, 2022.
After analyzing the nomination submissions for NEA State Delegate and UniServ Council Director to the WEA Board, the following will take place:
NEA State Delegates: All members running for NEA State Delegate have been deem elected. We will not be holding elections for any state delegate positions. NEA allocates a certain number of NEA State Delegates to each state affiliate. We had less than the number of candidates than we have allocated. This would mean that all nominees would end up attending the NEA RA regardless if that election was contested in their council. Because we have vacant positions, we’d fill them with those nominees that were not elected in contested races.
WEA Board of Directors: Our elections notice, and rules state the following: Elections will be held only for those positions for which the number of nominated candidates exceeds the number of seats to be filled. The election for these contested positions will be held Feb. 7, 2022, at 8 a.m. through March 1, 2022 (Midnight). Candidates for uncontested positions will be deemed elected by acclamation.
The attached document will show you what is happening with each council based on the nominations received. Click here to view this document.
Those councils with less than the number of seats to be filled, the Council President will need to review their Council’s Constitution and Bylaws and follow those rules on appointing a WEA Board Director to serve.
Those highlighted in green have contested elections and WEA will run the election in their council for their WEA Board positions including a write-in option. Voting on these positions will begin on Monday, February 7, 2022 and will close on March 1, 2022 at 11:59pm. Those councils with contested elections are: Puget Sound, Seattle, Chinook, Olympic, Sammamish and Tacoma.
