WEA-PAC members Lauren Dandridge, left, and Shaina Langley go out doorbelling. As educators, we know elections make a difference. We know that working together in our union we can directly impact those elections. And that for our students, we should get involved.

The two best ways for educators to participate in this election are to join WEA-PAC, and to talk with voters. Our community trusts educators for information on which candidates support our state’s public-school system. That’s why we all need to participate in the WEA Day of Action on Oct. 26 to talk with our neighbors about electing pro-public education, pro-labor candidates and defeating billionaire-backed initiatives like I-2109 on this year’s ballot.

Talking with voters at their homes makes a real impact. Lake Washington WEA-PAC manager Shaina Langley doorbelled in Southwest Washington this year for 2 WEA members who are running for Legislature and she says,

Special Guest Speakers“When you share a connection with someone at the door, it’s a great reminder that your community is more united than divided. It’s inspiring to find our shared voice and areas of common ground. When we vote for things we value, like our schools, we’re voting for the things that bring us together and strengthen our communities.”

This chart lists start times, locations and special guests for 11 sites around the state on Oct. 26. Don’t live by one of these locations? You can also sign up for remote options such as phone calling or texting. Choose to make a difference this election by signing up for WEA Day of Action today!

When educators fight for what our students need to succeed in public schools here in Washington, we make real, measurable progress for our students. Since 2017 alone, we’ve secured:

$8 billion of new education funding; increased resources for student mental health; more investment in special education and support services; expanded access to free school meals; and protected and expanded collective bargaining rights

These victories happened because WEA members worked hard to elect a pro-public-education, pro-labor majority in both chambers of the Legislature. We must keep helping them protect our victories and ensure we’re meeting the needs of all our students and the staff who work in public schools.

Don’t wait. Sign up to come to the WEA Day of Action on Oct. 26
