Lessons from Washington's standardized testing

Washington state schools administer a variety of student assessments based on federal, state and district requirements.

WEA members have always advocated for assessment systems that rely on multiple measures that are equitable and culturally nonbiased. Teacher driven, classroom based assessments are a critical part of any effective assessment system. WEA opposes the sole use of any single test in making high-stakes decisions about the quality of schools and teachers or student achievement.
