Assistance for WEA members who have been laid off

If you’ve received a “RIF” (reduction in force) notice, or are a provisional employee who is not being renewed, here are some resources available to you as a WEA member.

  • The Washington State Labor Council offers a “Layoff Rapid Response” service to support union members in transition. This includes addressing unemployment insurance, skills upgrade possibilities, resume and job search assistance.

Email Bill Messenger,  or call him at 360-357-8736.

  • The Employment Security Division has also identified two contact people for WEA members to guide people through the process of claiming unemployment insurance.  Please read this before calling.

Email Amy Seidlitz in the Lacey Claim Center, or call her at 360-438-4076.

Email Steve Ruggles in the Spokane Claim Center, or call him at 509-893-7001.
