Add your name to WEA’s school safety petition

Back to Blog

School safety remains a top concern for educators in Washington and across the country.

“Students deserve real solutions that will keep them safe — that is what our students have asked of us, says Lily Eskelsen Garcia, National Education Association president.

We’re urging the Washington Legislature to fund additional counselors, psychologists, nurses, therapists, social workers and other mental health services for all students in every public school.

A crucial part of the solution is making sure all students have the individualized help, support and resources they need to be successful in the classroom and in the community.

You can help make school safety a priority in the upcoming Washington legislative session by signing WEA’s online petition for healthy students and safe schools. WEA members will be delivering the signed petitions in Olympia on Presidents’ Day, Feb. 18.

Adding your name to the petition is a quick and easy way to make sure our elected leaders in Olympia know we expect them to take action to support healthy students and safe schools.

Please join us for these events too:

Jan. 23 - tele town hall to review our full legislative agenda. Details coming soon.
Feb. 2 - US – United for Safety Conference.

Review WEA’s other legislative priorities.
