Sen. Liz Lovelett is the WEA-PAC-endorsed pro-union, pro-public education candidate in the 40th Legislative District, which includes Anacortes and the San Juan Islands.

Lovelett was appointed to the seat earlier this year and was a strong leader on education issues during the 2019 legislative session in Olympia. Now she's on the primary election ballot, which will begin arriving in mailboxes around July 20.

A former public school employee, Lovelett has children in Anacortes public schools and is active in her local PTA. She's a strong advocate for union rights.

"Unions protect their members from unsafe working conditions, regressive pay and administrative grievances and give collective voice to their diverse needs. I support teachers, paras and specialists having a voice in the workplace issues that matter to you," Lovelett wrote in her WEA-PAC questionnaire.

Primary election ballots must be postmarked or dropped off by 8 pm Aug. 6. Here is a complete list of WEA-PAC candidate endorsements.
