“When I started working in Idaho, 70 cents of every dollar was put toward education in the state budget,” Vicky Jensen, Central Valley EA member and WEA-Eastern Washington president says. “By the time I left, it was 40 cents on the dollar.”

She is glad she moved to Washington. “As a WEA member, I have a say in determining our policies, my working environment and my salary and benefits. In Idaho, they can’t fill positions because they can’t pay people what they are worth.”
