From Sunnyside to Port Angeles, educators stand up for schools
Educators around the state are standing up for better public schools.
In Port Angeles, para educators have been working without a contract all year. These paraprofessionals work one-on-one with students and are dedicated to student success. However the wages for Port Angeles Paraeducators' Association members have lagged behind other school staff, including custodians, secretaries and bus drivers. These facts have not moved school board president Joshua Jones, so members decided to picket outside the hospital where he works.
Check out photos from the picket below.
Walk-in at Sunnyside schools
Sunnyside Education Association members held a walk-in at schools on May 19 and wore red for public ed. Their reason for the walk-in? To raise community awareness about public school funding in our state. They called on Olympia to pass an education budget that fulfills the legislature's paramount duty to fund public education.
