Willapa Valley Education Association will vote Monday, Dec. 16, on a tentative agreement that could allow schools to reopen Tuesday.

WVEA went on strike Dec. 3 after months of hearing "no" from the district about proposals to improve student learning and educator working conditions. Last week, members from more than 15 WEA locals across southwest Washington, longshore workers from the ILWU, Machinists, United Food and Commercial Workers, Public School Employees and the Washington State Labor Council joined the picket line to support the 25 Willapa Valley teachers.

WVEA and the district reached the tentative agreement late Dec. 13. Classes will resume Tuesday pending ratification by both sides.
