WEA HCR Leadership Summit
Join union members across the state Dec. 6 and 7 for WEA's annual Human and Civil Rights Leadership Summit in Federal Way. The event focuses on our collective and individual leadership for racial and social justice from the classroom to the association.
The conference opens Friday with a dinner, keynote welcome from WEA Vice President Janie White, and annual awards presentation at the WEA Headquarters office. On Saturday, the summit continues at Lakota Middle School with an address from April Sims, secretary treasurer at the Washington State Labor Council. Sims has extensive experience with leading efforts on eliminating institutional racism in unionism through the examination of our unique history in labor and race.
Early bird registration is $40. After Nov. 22, the registration fee is $50. Space is limited and registration closes at 5 p.m. Dec. 2. Register online to save your spot.
