Guest and substitute teacher training

Substitute Educator Day

Designed to help guest teachers transition from receiving a call to substitute teach to completing the assignment with success, this training is conducted by veteran practicing guest teachers who have successfully navigated issues that guest teachers are faced with every day. Participants will learn how to:

  • Be a professional guest teacher/substitute teacher
  • Manage a class through instructional expectations, behavior expectations, and procedural expectations
  • Address behavior management issues
  • Use a check list for preparedness
  • Use research-based instructional strategies as filler activities, including the depth of knowledge wheel, graphic organizers, questioning techniques, thinking skills, story starters, and logic problems
  • Use available resources
