  • WEA National Board Jump Start

    WEA Jump Start is a four-day comprehensive seminar designed to provide National Board candidates with important information about the certification process, time to examine component and Assessment Center requirements, the opportunity to plan how to meet requirements, and time to collaborate, gather resources and information needed to pursue certification. All this happens in a supportive, constructive, and collegial environment.

    Tentative Dates:
    Eastern Washington (Spokane area): June 23-26, 2020
    Western Washington (Seattle area): August 3-6, 2020

  • WEA National Board Home Stretch

    Home Stretch takes place just before the National Board portfolio is due, when candidates are getting ready to focus their attention on final revisions.

    WEA offers Home Stretch seminars annually in February through April, and two options are available, a 3-hour and a 6-hour seminar, both consisting of peer feedback on written commentary. Event fees include lunch, clock hours, and all training materials and resources.

    Small like-certificate groups meet with one NBCT Facilitator to read and provide standards-based feedback on the written commentary for Components 2, 3, or 4 using a protocol specially designed for use at WEA Home Stretch events.

    In full day events, candidates get a second round of feedback on Component 2, 3 or 4 written commentary, OR, they can opt to gwt support with Component 1 (Assessment Center) Preparation. In a small, like-certificate group, candidates explore the selected response items, the constructed response exercises, and released items.

    Supported Work Groups: Dedicated work time with available NBCTs who answer questions and provide support. 

    Note: Trainings may be cancelled should registration numbers not meet the minimum requirements. Members will be offered alternative options or refunds for cancelled events.

  • WEA National Board Renewal Jump Start

    Renewal is a personal and public statement about your commitment to the profession and to your students. WEA's National Board Renewal Jump Start is a 1-day training that provides key information to NBCTs who are engaged in the National Board Certification renewal process. This training helps candidates consider their growth and experiences since becoming a NBCT and how to relate this to the renewal process.  Find out more about National Board Renewal

  • WEA National Board Renewal Feedback and Support

    WEA's National Board Renewal Feedback & Support training provides NBCTs the opportunity to share and get feedback on a draft of one or two of their Professional Growth Experience (PGE) requirements to renew their National Board Certificate.  Participants Eligible to Attend:  2019-20 NBCTs working on their Renewal for submission in spring, 2020.

    In each session, NBCTs participate in a structured feedback protocol process with other candidates to examine PGE evidence, alignment with standards assessed and clarity of response.

    Three session options are available at each location:

    • Morning 3-Hour Session:  Participants bring four copies of one draft and any supporting documents of of Component 2 and Component 3. Check-in begins at 8:00 am, class begins at 9:00 am and ends at noon. 

    • Afternoon 3-Hour Session:  Participants bring four copies of one draft and any supporting documents of Component 2 and Component 3. Check-in begins at noon, class begins at 12:30 pm and ends at 3:30 pm. 

    • Full-day 6-Hour Session:  Participants bring four copies each of two drafts and any supporting documents of either Component 1, Component 2, Component 3, and/or Component 4. Check-in begins at 8:00 am, class begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:30 pm.
