  • WEA National Board Jump Start

WEA Jump Start is a four-day comprehensive seminar designed to provide National Board candidates with important information about the certification process, time to examine component and Assessment Center requirements, the opportunity to plan how to meet requirements, and time to collaborate, gather resources and information needed to pursue certification. All this happens in a supportive, constructive, and collegial environment.

The dates and locations for the 2019 Summer Jump Starts have not yet been determined. Please check this webpage in December for more information.

  • WEA National Board Home Stretch

Home Stretch takes place just before the National Board portfolio is due, when candidates are getting ready to focus their attention on final revisions.

WEA offers two options for Home Stretch trainings, a 3-hour and a 6-hour seminar, both consisting of peer feedback on written commentary. Event fees include lunch, clock hours, and all training materials and resources.

Small like-certificate groups will meet with one NBCT Facilitator to read and provide standards-based feedback on the written commentary for Components 2, 3, or 4 using a protocol specially designed for use at WEA Home Stretch events. (Note: February 23rd 3-hour events may not be structured in like-certificate format.)

In full day events, candidates can get a second round of feedback on Component 2, 3 or 4 written commentary, OR, they can get support with Component 1 (Assessment Center) Preparation. In a small, like-certificate group, candidates will explore the selected response items, the constructed response exercises, and released items.

Supported Work Groups: Dedicated work time with available NBCTs who can answer questions and provide support.

Cost to WEA members (via credit or debit card only): 3-hour Home Stretch – Early registration through 1/31/19, $45; registration 2/1/19 and after, $60. 6-hour Home Stretch - Early registration through 1/31/19, $75; registration 2/1/19 and after, $100.
