Spokane educator named 2018 Washington State Teacher of the Year
Spokane educator Mandy Manning was named Washington’s 2018 Teacher of the Year today.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal congratulated Manning and the other 2018 Regional Teachers of the Year at a ceremony in Seattle.
“Mandy Manning and the 2018 Teachers of the Year are among the most passionate and effective educators in our state," said Reykdal. "These teachers lead by example and they represent the passion, professionalism, and effectiveness of our state's educators. With these educators in our schools, the future looks bright for our kids. We should all thank them for sharing their wisdom with their colleagues and our state's students."
Manning teaches English and math to refugee and immigrant students in the Newcomer Center at Ferris High School in Spokane. Last year, Manning won Washington's 2017 NEA Foundation Award in Teaching Excellence.
