Support West Virginia Educators
West Virginia educators take a stand - and win!
For nine days ago, educators from each of West Virginia's 55 counties walked out to protest low wages. With pay ranking at a dismal 48th in the nation, they hadn't seen a cost of living increase or wage hike in four years.
After days of back and forth negotiations, the teachers secured a 5% pay increase. And, as a result of the deal brokered with the Governor, state House and Senate, all state employees will see a 5% pay increase.
Walk-outs take their toll, on students, families and school staff. West Virginia educators worked hard duirng the walk-out to provide lunches for kids who were missing school lunches, while still providing for their own families.
The West Virginia Education Association has set up a fund to help educators through the transition of nine days without work.
