Partners in Prevention

Student Safety and WEA.

WEA members are focused on providing students safe learning environments so that they can thrive at school. This is an important priority not just for educators, but for parents, students and our communities. 

Governor Jay Inslee was one speaker at our recent United for Safety Conference, which drew about 500 educators to a one-day symposium on school safety earlier this month. In March, WEA members are invited to attend "Partners in Prevention" a one day training in Kennewick, to learn about bullying awareness, de-escalation techniques, suicide prevention and other topics to support students at school. 

 

These conferences are part of our efforts to focus on the need for more school nurses, counselors, psychologists and other mental and behavioral health professionals so our students receive the help they need to be successful at school and in the world.
